Dear parents and carers,

I wanted to let you know about the brilliant volunteering opportunities we have at 18th Ipswich Scout Group. And every one of them is good for you.

We rely on people like you playing their part to give young people opportunities to dream big, give it a go, and build skills for life.

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to volunteer. We’re looking for people to help out in all sorts of ways in our meeting place and behind the scenes.

Whether you want to support young people or if you’re more comfortable planning an adventure from the sidelines, we’ve got a role for you.

Scouts happens when a lot of us give a little. You’re not signing up for a lifelong commitment – just to help out, when and where you can.

Want to make a difference, but don’t want to work directly with young people? There are loads of opportunities to make an impact behind the scenes. We’ll help you find something that matches your skills (and the time you have available). We’d love for you to get involved in our four step challenge – it’s a chance for you to tell us how you’d like to help, try out ways to get involved, and meet other members of the team before you decide whether to volunteer with Scouts.

And volunteering’s a two-way street. Research shows that it improves your wellbeing and helps you build career-boosting skills. Let us know you’re interested, and we’ll give you any support and training you need to let your skills shine.

If you’ve got bright ideas or questions, please get in touch.

Thanks for everything you already do to help your young person join in with Scouts.

Best wishes,

Denise Bloomfield
