Dear Suffolk Scouters,
Since the last newsletter, the number of sections that have returned to face-to-face scouting have increased. We are starting to see an increase in enquiries from young people and their parents. With the summer fast approaching Scouting is looking really positive again.
Our Programme Team are working hard to support leaders with innovative ideas such as the Programme Hub, to enable leaders to share great programme ideas. If you have a great game or programme idea that other groups could use, why not upload your idea to the hub and share it with groups throughout the Eastern Region.

Mandatory Training Success
Well done Suffolk! We have achieved 98% compliance for Safety and Safeguarding training. This is a great achievement and puts us in the lead for the East of England. If your safety or safeguarding training is due for renewal you can now complete this online from home. Online First Responder training is available now as Module 10A, and you will soon be able to complete this training with the face-to-face Module 10B.
Squirrels Adviser Opportunity
Help Scouting in Suffolk prepare for the start of Squirrel Scouting in Suffolk. This will be the new section for 4 and 5 year olds. The role is not to advocate for Squirrel Scouting, but to support Districts to consider if the time is right to start this provision. If you have an interest in this role, please contact: mark.pearson@suffolkscouts.org.uk
Community Action Suffolk – Community Restart
As the COVID-19 recovery roadmap progresses the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector can start to open their doors and deliver more services indoors. Community Action Suffolk has been commissioned by the The Collaborative Communities Board to support VCSE groups and organisations to get ready to reopen in line with government guidelines.
They are offering a number of free services that are shown in the link – CAS Community Restart – and includes a small grant.
Best wishes
