Disclosure Checks

If you are not already aware, Headquarters have taken the decision to suspend disclosure applications during the current situation. This is to reduce any additional workload for the Disclosure and Barring Service as they concentrate on processing key workers. If volunteers have a disclosure that expires during this time, they do not need to be suspended (even though the e-mails will still be received) and can continue with digital scouting in their existing roles. New adults should NOT be added during this time.

Safeguarding

The Scout Association has issued some updated guidance to clarify the existing safeguarding rules. You can read this guidance here. Online scouting and using live video requires some careful planning, but can be carried out safely with a little thought.

Please remember, you must abide by our safeguarding principles and POR at all times. If you are conducting an online meeting, please ensure that a minimum of two adults join the meeting before any young person. Microsoft Teams will allow you to do this. As leaders, remember we are role models. Please create and implement risk assessments as you would for a normal meeting.

Please share your programmes with us so we can let other groups know what’s working for you.
