Scout – Christmas Post 2012

Dear Parents and Supporters of the group.

This is sincere plea for help from you all for this year’s Scout Christmas Post.

The dates have been up on the notice board in the foyer, for parents to put their names up, to volunteer to help sort the post from Tuesday 4th December (after Beavers) and every week day evening through till 13th December. The HQ will be open for sorting every evening from 6.30pm.

I understand from Leaders that not all sections have met at the hut, since these lists have been available.

We cannot manage this huge to commitment without everyone’s help. We desperately need help with sorting and delivering.

Therefore I would ask you to contact DENISE or JOHN on this Email address to volunteer your time and support the group please.

The Group does expect all parents to help and take part with this major fund raising effort, last year we raised over £1300 for the 18th Group Funds.

Please, don’t wait for a phone call from John or myself to get you to help, Volunteer First !!!

The more people that come to help the quicker we can get it sorted.

There are 8 other groups involved in the Ipswich Scout Post and we can’t let those groups down and not do our bit.

This fund raising evening will take place on Saturday 17th November 2012 @ 6.30pm at 18th Ipswich Headquarters.

Fish & Chip supper will need to be ordered and paid for in advance and the bingo tickets will be on sale on the night..

I am very pleased to be able to report that nine Leaders from Orwell District have been recognised by the Chief Scout for their service to scouting in Orwell District. We send heartiest congratulations to all those listed below on their Awards.

Award for Merit : is for outstanding service

Andy Piotrowski, Martin Agar, Stuart Wright, David Gingell and Carol Scurrell.

Chief Scout Commendation : is for Good Service

Pam Popay, Tina Macdonald, Daniel Josselyn and Shelly Andrews .

Congratulation to all the above leaders from all those in Orwell District and from myself as District Commissioner.

‘Open Morning’

Group Scout Leader  and Chairman would like to thank all the Leaders, parents and children for attending today’s ‘Open Morning’.

The event was an overwhelming success at which the group took receipt of its new minibus and a number of items of new equipment. The Group would like to personally thank the ‘Big Lottery’ fund, ‘Coop Community Fund’, Ipswich Rotary Club, Suffolk Probation Service, Ridgeons and Colin Bloomfield to name but a few. Today’s event, the recent hall decoration/kitchen and new equipment would not have been possible without the generous support of these and several more organisations. Mike Summer of Moons Cycles personally delivered the group new bicycles in conjunction with Suffolk Police accident reduction unit.

Our new equipment and hall works will enable the group to continue to grow and support it’s children and volunteers in their activities.


Open Morning

We are making an invitation to all parent(s) to an ‘Open Morning’ on the 28th October 2012

from 10am to 12pm at our Cliff Lane Headquarters. Refreshments will be provided.

We shall be announcing further details of our forthcoming Group Camp and shall be taking receipt of exciting new group equipment. It is anticipated that a photographer shall be attending to take photographs of the children with some of the new equipment.

Orwell District Bonfire Night

Orwell District Bonfire Night Saturday 27th October 2012

at Hallowtree Campsite Gates Open at 5.30 pm

Judging of Fancy Dress and Pumpkins will take place at 6.30 pm

For safety reasons NO SPARKLERS will be allowed
