Cub Section Information…

The Cub section is the next section up from the Beavers, and is for children aged 8 to 10½ years old.

We try and keep our Cub program as varied as possible, with the aim of offering something for everyone. This includes a mixture of badge work, games, traditional scouting skills and other activities. Traditional Scouting skills include such things as shelter building, fire lighting and back-woods (open fire) cooking. The following is a selection of some of the other activities we have participated in recent times:

  • Canoeing
  • Visit & Tour of Fire Station
  • Swimming at Crown Pools
  • Visit to Woodbridge Art Club
  • Karate Instructor Visit
  • Owl Keeper Visit (with Owls!)

In addition to our weekly meetings, there are also various (optional) district events that take place over the course of a year, usually at weekends.

You can see our full list of up and coming events on the Cubs calendar page.

Camping…

We think one of the best things about Cubs (and Scouts) is the camping element. It’s a great way for children to experience a sense of freedom and independence, whilst within a safe and controlled environment. We try and have at least a couple of camps each year, in addition to the annual District & Group camps. They normally take place at the local Hallowtree campsite, although we have travelled further afield before. All our Leaders have undergone rigorous training in order to gain their camping permits, so rest assured your children are in safe hands!
